Well, here we are, the last day of 2011! What a wonderful year it has been for Blue Skies! We are so grateful for all of you and your support this past year. Whether it was through prayers, financial gifts and/or volunteering, YOU are appreciated! We couldn’t do this without you!

We feel so blessed to have had four awesome retreats this year, meeting many new guest families and volunteers along the way. We have been the recipient of several grants, including one from the Georgia Baptist Health Care Foundation and one from the Imlay Foundation. We were given proceeds from several fundraisers including the Brian Parks Walk and Fun Run, Angels for Abby, Change for Charlie and a Keller Williams Bowling Party. We held our first Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night. We produced our first cookbook, “To Every Season” and we made and sold Christmas ornaments. There is so much more. And to think, we haven’t even reached our 2nd anniversary yet!

We thank God for our many blessings in 2011 and look forward to the year ahead! Wishing you all a very Happy New Year in 2012!

We have heard through the grapevine that a sweet friend of Blue Skies, Alyssa Leonard, had something very exciting happen to her. If you know Alyssa, you know that she is a HUGE, HUGE fan of Justin Bieber (that might be an understatement!). If you ever see her, she is most likely to be dressed in something with Justin on it! Well, apparently the Biebs himself gave Alyssa a call last week! How exciting, Alyssa! We know you are over the moon!

Greetings from Blue Skies! We are finally starting our Blog. Keep posted to hear what is going on with the ministry, our guest families, volunteers and staff. We want to keep YOU updated! And, boy…have we had a lot going on!

After finishing a very successful retreat season, we have entered into a a time of fundraising, awareness and planning. We are busy applying for grants and speaking to groups and churches to get the word out about Blue Skies. The retreat dates are set for next year and we are preparing for some fun and meaningful times with our families. We have been very successful selling our ornaments and cookbooks. We have had volunteer-led fundraisers that have not only been fun, but profitable, too!

Our Board of Directors and Staff had a Christmas party this past Monday night hosted by Ella Herlihy and Marja Robinson . A fun time was had by all! We recognized David Meyer as our outgoing Chairman of the Board. Thank you to David for his guidance and leadership over these past two years!

We hope you will follow us on this blog and stay up to date with what’s going on. And likewise, if you have news or special events in your lives, let us know by emailing us at info@whereskiesareblue.org.
